The Harrisburg City Council met on March 3, 2012 at 11:30 am in the Council Room, City Hall, Harrisburg, Illinois.

Mayor Eric Gregg presided over the meeting with Commissioners Bart Schiff and Ron Fearheiley answering roll call. Commissioner Ron Crank and John McPeek were not present.

Mayor Gregg extended his thanks to Commissioners Schiff, Commissioner Fearheiley and all City workers for their efforts since the tornado.

Mayor Gregg stated the City would do everything possible to protect every man, woman and child in the community.

Mayor Gregg extended his thanks to all the nationwide support that had been received.

Commissioner Schiff stated there had been over 500 volunteers today that had been organized into groups and sent out to work in zones. His mine workers had also arrived to help.

Commissioner Fearheiley recognized the efforts of Chief Summers and Assistant Chief David Morris beginning with the first few hours after the tornado.

Mayor Gregg stated that Senator Forby and Representative Phelps had worked to the released all the funds owed to the City by the State which will be a great benefit to the City.

Mayor Gregg read the following Proclamation:

 

Due to the devastating tornado on February 29, 2012,

The City of Harrisburg hereby proclaims

A procedure for contractors working

in the City of Harrisburg

Effective March 5, 2012.

All contractors will apply for a permit to

perform services in the City of Harrisburg.

The permit will be issued at the City Hall and

will bear the City seal.

Mayor Gregg stated there would be a Special Meeting on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 5:00 pm to discuss disaster issues.

Commissioner Schiff moved to adjourn. Commissioner Fearheiley seconded. By roll call vote, all voted yes. Motion carried.
