Southeastern Illinois Regional Planning

[Proposed]Harrisburg Business District Plan

Harrisburg has long served as the Center of Southeastern Illinois and leader for Economic Growth & Expansion. With continued reinvestment from existing businesses and the addition of several new ventures in the last 60 months the City has experienced great progress in growing our area.

The City is proud to house community anchor businesses such as Aldis, Kroger, a  Walmart Supercenter and so many more. With a thriving entertainment and hospitality network, the City has become a regular destination for those in surround Pope & Hardin counties. In mid-2010's Showplace Cinemas made a capital investment into the community, bringing a theater back to Southeastern Illinois located in the Arrowhead Business District. Hometown and chain restaurants dot the area with retail shopping available throughout City Limits.

Our community is well-poised to allow for entrepreneurial growth with a low cost of living, financial incentives from the City, County, and State, with relaxed Commercial requirements that you'll find elsewhere in the region.

In 2013, the City of Harrisburg incorporated and was approved to establish the Veterans Drive TIF District, this being in addition to an Enterprise Designation, and state-assigned Opportunity Zone. All proving incredibly beneficial to large and small businesses looking at opening their doors in Harrisburg.

In the last 60 months, the City of Harrisburg has seen well over $30 million dollars invested in private and public entities that have created a boon for our area. The question is, will you join us?
